The questions I ask when rating a book (fiction):
1. Was the read entertaining? Did it hold my attention? Good plot, pace, and etc.?
2. Was there an underlying message? If yes, then what was it and was it truth-full? Did the message reveal the glory of God in Jesus Christ?
3. Did it have feeling? Did I connect with the characters?
4. Was the prose easy on the ears?
I’ll ask other questions too, but these are the big four. Am I missing a big one? Please comment.
And I then give a numerical rating.
Ratings:
5 – Amazing
4 – Very Good
3 – Good
2 – Okay
1 – Anybody got a lighter?
And for those books that changed my life: well, I’m not quite sure on the symbol yet. Maybe a smiley face?

Hey Brother,
I just located your blog and saw the nice post you did referencing me. Thank you for the kind words and encouragement.
I have been enjoying looking through your blog and I’m sorry to see you have given it a break for a while. But I get it.
I often consider the same thing, and will likely go on a fast at some point soon.
Peace to you, brother. You going to T4G? If so, say hello. I’m white and have a beard.
